Balloon Boy throws up, dad denies hoax on 'Today'

balloonboy_today_video.jpg Falcon Heene, now forever known as Balloon Boy, may have been safe and sound during the tense hours when the nation was focused on finding him, but a few stray words have landed his family, specifically his father, in hot water.

During a "Larry King" interview Thursday night, when Falcon's parents Richard and Mayumi Heene asked him why he didn't respond when he heard his name called, the boy answered, "You had said we had did this for a show."

Those few mumbled words are now causing some people to suspect the entire incident was a hoax.

Richard Heene, a storm chaser who hosts the Internet series series "The Psyience Detectives," told Meredith Vieira on the "Today" show Friday morning that Falcon wasn't processing the question correctly. When the media had appeared on their doorstep and made Falcon show them how he had climbed into the attic, one of the reporters had told the boy they were taping it for a show, confusing him.

During the "Today" interview, Falcon was apparently ill, shutting his eyes while his father answered questions and at one point even asking his mom for a container before he vomited into it on camera.

Vieira continued with the interview, however, and asked to hear Richard's take on the hoax rumors.

"What do I got to gain out of this? I'm not selling anything," said the elder Heene. "I'm not advertising anything. My family and I, we do this all the time. We're always doing some kind of scientific research. We're always building something together. I teach my kids how to shoot cameras. It's highly educational for my boys. So, absolutely not. This is not some kind of a hoax."
