Lifetime's new docu-series "BAPs" isn't like any reality show you have ever seen before, nor has there ever been a more thought provoking nickname. So what is exactly is a BAP? Viewers may be surprised to find out those letters stand for -- Black American Princess or Prince.

Even more interesting, is the new series follows the lives of a group of exclusive, privileged and affluent African American friends from St. Louis, who self identify as "BAPs." Anisha, Kristen, Gina, Jason, Riccarda and Brandon believe being a BAP in today's world is a birthright and definitely want to show it off. However, having too many people fighting for the crown has its challenges and friendships are constantly tested as the group competes to be the most successful and best looking person in their inner circle.

Take a look at BAP life in the preview clip above and let us know what you think about the new series in the comments below.

"BAPs" premieres Wednesday, July 23 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Lifetime.
