barbara-walters-retirement-plans-gi.jpgBarbara Walters has been a very busy woman for the majority of her life. But now that she's heading into retirement, she has big plans to start doing nothing.

"I have always had a schedule. I've always had deadlines. I've always had things to do," Walters tells ABC News. "It will be nice to get up and say, 'What do I have to do today? Nothing!'"

More specifically, Walters says she won't be sticking with her "The View" schedule. "I'm going to lounge in bed until 3 in the afternoon," she says of her plans for Retirement Day 1 on May 19. She also is planning a trip to Berlin, Germany with a friend.

"I don't know what my life is going to be when it is unscheduled!" says Walters, who has been working at ABC since 1976. "I'll have to get used to it, but it sounds like a very good idea."
