Barbara Walters to Donald Trump: 'You're making a fool of yourself'

donald-trump-barbara-walters-getty.jpgFollowing Donald Trump's big "announcement" wherein he dangled $5 million in charitable donations in front of President Obama in exchange for the president releasing college applications/records and passport records, newswoman Barbara Walters has told the Donald to knock it off.

She says on "The View" Thursday (Oct. 25):

"Donald, you and I have known each other for many years. And you know I am your friend and I think you are a brilliant businessman. You are great on television, and you have a fascinating personality. But Donald, you're making a fool of yourself. You are not hurting Obama, you're hurting Donald, and that hurts me, because you're a decent man. Stop it. Get off it, Donald."

Donald took to Twitter to respond to Babs:

  • @BarbaraJWalters @theviewtv Barbara, unfortunately you've missed the entire point of my announcement--you just don't get it!
  • @BarbaraJWalters @theviewtv will apologize to me just like she did when I was right about @Rosie. Besides, I get great ratings on The View.
  • @BarbaraJWalters @theviewtv--Why did you choose me as one of the 10 Most Fascinating People of the Year last season (and more than once?)

He says that Barbara has "missed the entire point," but if she has, then so have we. What, exactly, is the point?

Trump tells Letterman it's about "transparency."
