'Batman' writer David S. Goyer pens new series for BBC/StarzAdd to Favorites | Doctor Who
The new series, called "Da Vinci's Demons," was just greenlit by Starz. The 8 episode series is scheduled to begin production in early 2012. The premise is, a 25-year-old Da Vinci, master painter, inventor, swordsman and more experiencing his youth in Renaissance Florence. As a free thinker with almost superhuman intellect and talents, he "struggles to live within the confines of his own reality and time. He begins to not only see the future, but invent it."
Goyer, who also wrote the upcoming Superman film "Man of Steel" had this to say about the upcoming show:
"Da Vinci was the original Renaissance man - a near-mythic figure that has world-wide appeal. After working with characters like Batman and Superman, it made a strange kind of sense for me to dive into the facts and legends swirling around his origins. This will be a show about secret histories, genius, madness, and all things profane. And I'm particularly excited that I get to do it on premium cable, where the story can be as dark and challenging and irreverent as it deserves to be."
We're so excited for this series, and we hate that we'll have to wait for 2013 to see it. Goyer has done some great things with the Batman franchise and we can't wait to see what he does with Da Vinci.
