'Battlestar Galactica's' Ronald D. Moore returns to Syfy with new series 'Helix'Add to Favorites | Battlestar Galactica
The show is designed as an "intense thriller about a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak, only to find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that holds the key to mankind's salvation or total annihilation."
Syfy plans to debut "Helix" later this year (at which time it may or may not have a different title). Joining Moore as executive producers are Lynda Obst ("Contact") and Steven Maeda ("The X-Files"). Cameron Porsandeh wrote the pilot script and will serve as co-executive producer.
"With its well-drawn characters, taut drama, and incredible production team, we couldn't be more excited to see this intense thrill-ride of a series come to life," Syfy president Mark Stern said in a statement.
Moore's "Battlestar Galactica" reboot remains one of the most critically acclaimed shows in Syfy's history, earning two Emmy nominations for writing and two for directing during its four season run.
