"Get Out Alive" (working title) was announced Monday (Oct. 8), where Grylls will act as a guide for teams who are put through various tasks in the wilderness. The show is co-produced with Ben Silverman's company Electus.

"'Get Out Alive' will be raw, tough and unrelenting, but it will also inspire and teach the essentials that one day may just save your life. The goal is to empower people with the ultimate in both survival and teamwork, and that brings incredible reward but first there must be some pain," says Grylls.

Chris Grant, CEO of Electus, adds, "Bear Grylls is still Bear Grylls. It's not a show about cooking. But you're still looking at him in a way you've never seen before. You've seen Bear do unbelievable things, but you haven't seen how amazing he is in letting other people learn what they can do."

"Get Out Alive" is slated for a summer 2013 premiere. NBC has eight one-hour episodes.
