'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Nikita' on the bubble at The CW: Keep 'em or kill 'em?Add to Favorites | Nikita
"Arrow," "Supernatural" and "The Vampire Diaries" have already been renewed for next season, and "Hart of Dixie," which has been a fairly consistent self-starter on Tuesday nights, also seems safe. On the other side of the ledger, "Cult" is probably doomed by its weak start in the ratings, and "90210" is officially on its way out.
In the middle are the three shows below. As with the polls for bubble shows on ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC, voting will be open through April 7. Have your say in the polls and in the comments.
"Beauty and the Beast"
The case for it: A passionate, engaged fan base -- it won the People's Choice Award for best new drama earlier this year -- is the kind of thing a smaller network needs in this fragmented marketplace.
The case against it: Its Nielsen ratings are lower than what "The Secret Circle" averaged in the same timeslot last season.
"The Carrie Diaries"
The case for it: Though its ratings have been nothing special this season, they have been fairly steady, and its total audience is bigger than that of the show it replaced, "Gossip Girl." A network built on teen dramas has very few of them on its air at the moment.
The case against it: "Carrie" hasn't really moved the needle among the network's core young, female viewers.
The case for it: The Friday drama actually saw its ratings improve with a time-period shift earlier this season, and it's hung tough since then, even though it's basically on an island.
The case against it: Despite the recent gains, it's still losing viewers compared to last season.
