'Beauty and the Beast' casts Sendhil Ramamurthy as Catherine's new love interest and ADA

sendhil-ramamurthy-beauty-and-the-beast.jpgIt seemed like Cat and Vincent were finally making some progress in the winter finale of "Beauty and the Beast," but there's a new guy coming into the picture to further complicate their already-rocky dynamic. Zap2it has confirmed that "Heroes" star Sendhil Ramamurthy has been cast as Assistant District Attorney Gabriel Lowen.

He's not going to make things easy for Catherine, on a personal or a professional level. First of all, when they have their initial encounter, he's in the womens' locker room. Awkward? Gabe isn't all charm and chisel, though. He's deeply suspicious of some of the goings-on in the police department -- particularly a death that just doesn't add up -- and he'll be pretty relentless in his investigations.

"Strong on justice, Gabe spearheads the search for the vigilante and finds his focus drawn to the elusive Catherine," The CW says of the lawyer, who is "from the upper echelons of NYC society." He'll first appear in episode 15, and will recur throughout the end of the season.

Best known as Mohinder from "Heroes," Ramamurthy has also recently appeared on "The Office" and "Covert Affairs."
