'Scandal's' Bellamy Young wins Critics' Choice Award: Score one for Team Mellie

bellamy-young-ccta-2014.jpgBellamy Young picked up a Critics' Choice Television Award for her role on "Scandal," and true to form she was utterly charming in her acceptance speech.

The camera caught her wondering which way to go as she headed to the stage, and she had trouble catching her breath as she called "Scandal" creator Shonda Rhimes a genius and the show's writers "wizards." But she managed to do all that without breaking down, which is a rare awards-show feat.

As crazy as "Scandal" got in its third season, Young's performance as first lady Mellie Grant helped keep the show tethered to the ground. She got more and more juicy material as the season wore on and handled it with aplomb.
