Benedict Cumberbatch accepts Best TV Detective award in swim shorts, breaks the internet
There's accepting an award and then there's Benedict Cumberbatch at London's National TV Awards, breaking the internet with a simple wardrobe choice.
Cumberbatch was awarded Best TV Detective for his work in "Sherlock" at London's National TV Awards on Wednesday (Jan. 22). Unable to accept in person, the fan favorite accepted his award via satellite from Los Angeles.
"I'm over the moon," he begins. "I can't tell you what this means. This is a vote by the public, and you are the people that made this the success that it is. It's a real, real thrill. I wish I was there to pick up the award in public ..."
Suddenly, the camera begins to pan down, catching a less-than-formal side of the hunk. "As you can see, I'm here in L.A. and I've been working and I'm in front of Hollywood here ... What? No, no, no. Don't show my shorts!"
The rest, as they say, is history.
Are you loving Cumberbatch's business up top, party down low approach?
