Bernie Madoff's son Mark Madoff found dead in apparent suicide

Mark was found by his father-in-law, hanging from a dog collar attached to a ceiling pipe. His 2-year-old child was in the apartment with him.

Martin Flumenbaum, the family attorney, released this statement:

"Mark Madoff took his own life today. This is a terrible and unnecessary tragedy. Mark was an innocent victim of his father's monstrous crime who succumbed to two years of unrelenting pressure from false accusations and innuendo. We are all deeply saddened by this shocking turn of events."
The Post also points out that this is the two-year anniversary of Mark's father's arrest. Bernie Madoff is currently serving a 150-year sentence for his role in masterminding what is considered the largest Ponzi scheme in history.
