Beyonce to sing the national anthem at Obama's second inauguration
If Beyonce ever needed a career boost, this would be the year for her to get it. Not only is she performing at the Super Bowl, but the Queen B is also slated to sing the national anthem at President Barack Obama's second inauguration on Jan. 21.
Joining her at the West Front stage are Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor, USA Today reports. Clarkson will sing "My Country, 'Tis of Thee" while Taylor is slated to perform "America the Beautiful," with more performers likely to be announced in the coming weeks.
Beyonce has been a longtime advocate of Obama. She and husband Jay-Z hosted a fundraiser for Obama's second presidential campaign back in September, where 100 people paid $40,000 a piece to spend time with Obama and pop's First Couple at Jay's 40/40 Club in New York City. Jay-Z also performed at an Obama rally and memorably sang, "I got 99 problems but a Mitt ain't one."
