'Biggest Loser' Season 15: 'American Idol's' Ruben Studdard to compete
Studdard once told People he was physically unable to keep up with a celebrity trainer's fitness program that required regular workouts while restricting him to 1,200 calories per day. "I'm a big man. There was no way to do those workouts on that amount of food, so everything was contradicting itself." Instead, he turned to vegetarianism, and saw his weight drop from 455 lbs. to somewhere in the range of 380 lbs.
Now 34-years-old, Studdard has said he wants to address his weight issue before it becomes a medical problem. He is quoted as saying, "I don't want to be worried at 40, and if I don't fix things now, I will be."
Other "American Idol" contestants who have gone on to do more reality shows include Season 5's Kellie Pickler, who won Season 16 of "Dancing With the Stars" and Season 2's Clay Aiken, who was runner-up on "The Celebrity Apprentice" Season 5.
Studdard is the only contestant "The Biggest Loser" confirms publicly for Season 15, so no word yet on whether there will be a celebrity theme. (Let's just keep our fingers crossed.) What celebrities do you think would make good "Biggest Loser" contestants? Sound off in the comments section below.
