"Dancing with the Stars" fan favorite Bill Nye might be in trouble. Reports indicate that the television "Science Guy" has injured his knee and was taken to the hospital for tests.

According to RumorFix, Nye suffered the injury during a "DWTS" rehearsal on Tuesday (Sept. 24). He was then taken to the hospital for an MRI with the possibility of a follow-up surgery.

A spokesman for "Dancing with the Stars" offered a brief statement on the incident, indicating that the injury occurred during the Monday (Sept. 23) performances:

"We can confirm Bill Nye was injured during his performance last night and is currently seeking medical attention. We will continue to keep you posted on his progress."

Although the lowest-scoring dancer in the first two weeks of competition, Nye has proved to be a fan favorite among "DWTS" viewers. The video of his premiere dance -- which earned only 14 points from the judges -- got over 3,000,000 views on YouTube in a single week. For week 2's performances, Nye had Mensa fans in the audience, all sporting lab coats and glasses in support of the man who made science rule on "Bill Nye the Science Guy."

Because of so much support, it has been expected that Nye will last awhile in the competition. The rumored knee injury will hopefully not derail Nye's chances at ballroom glory.
