Billboard Music Awards 2012 Whitney Houston tribute and Bobbi Kristina accepts the Millenium Award on her behalf

whitney-houston-bobbi-kristina-getty.jpgThe 2012 Billboard Music Awards did a tribute to the late Whitney Houston and it was quite a bit smoother and more polished than the slap-dash tribute to Donna Summer. But we digress.

John Legend first performed "Greatest Love of All" and then "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks performed "I Will Always Love You." Both were fine - but just once, we'd like to see an awards show trot out Nicki Minaj to do the "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" remix or something like that. We bet Whitney would really enjoy that.

Following the singing, Whitney's sister-in-law Pat Houston and her daughter Bobbi Kristina took to the stage to accept Whitney's Millenium Award from Billboard. Pat spoke first, introducing Bobbi, "Tonight, the one person that should be accepting this award is the one person that Whitney loved most and treasured most. It's her daughter, Bobbi."

Bobbi seemed very touched by not only tonight's tribute, but the whole outpouring of support. She said, with tears in her eyes, "I just wanna say thank you to everyone who supported us through it all. Not just from when it was good, but when it was bad too. Just everything. Thank you so much for showing that much love 'cause she deserved it. I'm just blessed to have been in such an incredible woman's life. There will never be another one, ever. And I thank you, all of you, the fans, everyone. Thank you so much."
