Miley Cyrus has been making a new name for herself recently, and everyone and their mother seems to have an opinion about her new image and choices.

One person who hasn't stopped supporting Miley? Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus.

Cyrus went on "The Queen Latifah Show" on Tuesday (Oct. 1) to discuss his daughter's recent antics and the public's reaction.

"It's like everything. There is an opposite and equal reaction," Cyrus says. "For everything that is good there's got to be, you know, a flip side to that."

Cyrus also opened up about Miley's desire to redefine herself as an artist. "Miley's a really smart, young lady. She's a very creative artist," Cyrus says. "You go through, you make your music, you make your art, and there comes a time where you have to figure that out yourself. You can't really count on someone else to give you that lesson."
