'Blue Mountain State' launches a Kickstarter movie campaignAdd to Favorites | Blue Mountain State
They're going the "Veronica Mars" route with a Kickstarter campaign to raise $1.5 million toward making a feature-length film to wrap up the show, which ran for three seasons on Spike and was canceled somewhat unexpectedly. The show is about a college football team, and creators Eric Falconer and Romanski reason that they should have had four years to tell their story.
The cast, including Alan Ritchson, Denise Richards, Darin Brooks and Ed Marinaro, is on board as well, as you can see in the video below.
Unlike "Veronica Mars," the "BMS" project doesn't have any studio backing or distribution agreement. Falconer writes that producer Lionsgate wasn't all that interested in making a film, but it did agree to give the rights to the creators to do with it as they pleased.
"Blue Mountain State" pulled in decent ratings for Spike in its three seasons (though its numbers declined in Season 3) and has since picked up some new fans via Netflix. The Kickstarter campaign is off to a pretty solid start, with pledges of just under $300,000 in its first two days.
Full details on the project are available at the Kickstarter page, and you can watch the cast and creators' pitch for the movie below.
