kelly-macdonald-boardwalk-empire.jpgHBO will start building its "Boardwalk Empire" at the beginning of the fall season.

The network says the series, which stars Steve Buscemi as a Prohibition-era politician/gangster in Atlantic City, will debut Sunday, Sept. 19. It will fill the 9 p.m. spot currently occupied by "True Blood," which is set to finish its season the week before.

HBO has already released a couple of knockout trailers for the show, which also stars Kelly Macdonald, Michael Pitt, Michael Shannon, Gretchen Mol, Michael Kenneth Williams, Shea Whigham and Dabney Coleman. Below is a behind-the-scenes look at the show featuring several of the actors, creator Terence Winter ("The Sopranos") and Martin Scorsese, who directed the pilot and is an executive producer.
