"Bones" will get a new squintern for Season 9. Ignacio Serricchio has been cast as the latest in a long line of Brennan's assistants on the series.

Serricchio ( "The Young and the Restless," "General Hospital") will play a forensic anthropologist seeking asylum from Cuba, according to TVLine. Because of his status as an immigrant, the character will need to reassert himself in his field.

"He has to work his way up to a position that he already occupied for many years," says executive producer Stephen Nathan. "He feels that he's Brennan's equal, but Brennan really doesn't feel the same."

Of course she doesn't. Brennan ( Emily Deschanel) rarely feels that anyone -- no matter what his foreign qualifications -- is on her level.

"Bones" airs Fridays at 8 p.m. on FOX. Serricchio's first appearance date has not yet been scheduled.
