"Bones" has cast actress Ever Carradine in a potentially important role coming up in season 8 of the show. The actress will play a mother who may exceed even Brennan when it comes to toughness and independence.

The actress, best known for recurring roles on shows like "24" and "Eureka," will appear in episode 12 of the current "Bones" season, according to a report from TVLine. Carradine's character, Dolores Hyams, is a working-class mother of a 15-year-old girl named Kat. As the widow of a policeman, Dolores has learned to get tough -- even when Kat's friend is murdered (thus bringing the Jeffersonian team into the Hyams' lives), this hardcore mom makes it clear that they do not need any counseling or softness.

Fittingly, considering the friendship aspect of this particular case, Carradine's episode will be called "The Friend in Need."

Ever Carradine has guest-starred on practically every successful drama on TV in the past few years -- from "Supernatural" to "Castle" to "CSI." She also had regular, co-starring roles in the series "Commander in Chief" (as Kelly Ludlow) and "Once and Again" (as Tiffany Porter).

"Bones" airs Mondays at 8pm on FOX.
