'Bones' videos: Roller derby takes over yet another show in 'The Doll in the Derby'Add to Favorites | Bones
Roller derby is a big thing on TV right now. In the past few years, we have seen plots involving the violent sport used in shows as varied as "Top Chef," "Bunheads," "The Bachelor" and "Psych." Now, "Bones" joins in on the trend with "The Doll in the Derby."
The case begins when the team must investigate the murder of a derby competitor whose remains are found dismembered. Initial examinations indicate that the victim may have suffered from domestic abuse. At least, that's the conclusion that birthday-boy Wendell ( Michael Grant Terry) comes to after seeing all of her earlier injuries.
But as we know from the title of the episode, that's not it. The victim participated in roller derby.
Based on what you see on TV, it's a wonder anyone ever survives roller derby. Those athletes are always bleeding and broken. Maybe it's even the truth -- roller skating is always a bit of a dangerous sport.
It's not like danger only resides on the rink, however. As a driving conversation between Brennan ( Emily Deschanel) and Booth ( David Boreanaz) shows, there may be other causes for concern.
Why does Booth need to go to the hospital? They both seem rather worried all of the sudden. Hopefully, it isn't anything too serious. We have roller derby for the serious stuff!
"The Doll in the Derby" airs on Monday, Feb. 4 at 8pm on FOX.
