Box Office: 'Act of Valor' leaves 'Wanderlust' in the dust

act-of-valor-box-office.jpg "Act of Valor," which stars no celebs, but does use actual Navy SEALs to portray, umm, Navy SEALs who embark on a covert mission to recover a kidnapped CIA agent, utterly crushed at Friday's (Feb. 24) box office.

The indie film, which was made with the cooperation of the Navy, bagged a cool $9 million in ticket sales on Friday -- almost half of it's estimated $18 million production budget. " Tyler Perry's Good Deeds" was a distant second, raking in $5.5 million.

The weekend's other wide openers, Jennifer Aniston's "Wanderlust" and the Amanda Seyfried-fronted "Gone" both underperformed. "Wanderlust" snagged only $2.2 million while "Gone" may have been an apt descriptor of the film's audience -- which only left Summit Entertainment with $1.6 million in ticket sales.
