breaking-dawn-weekend-box-office.jpgWhile "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" came up just shy of a franchise record in its opening weekend, "Skyfall" has smashed the James Bond series' overall record.

In its third week, the Daniel Craig starrer has notched up $669.2 million worldwide, well ahead of the previous topper, $599.2 million, set by "Casino Royale" in 2006.

The vampire romance, led by Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, is a certified blockbuster with $141.3 million for the weekend, but failed to match the previous domestic record -- $142.8 million -- set by The Twilight Saga: New Moon in its opening weekend in 2009.

After a limited opening last week, Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" earned a respectable spot in third place, with $21,000 in its nationwide expansion.
