Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson single-handedly wrestled the top spot at the box office Friday from Fox's "The Croods." OK, perhaps Channing Tatum and Bruce Willis had a little something to do with it. For instance, if this was a hockey metaphor, Tatum and Willis would get the assist in Johnson's score for "G.I. Joe: Retaliation."
Either way, team "G.I. Joe brought in $15.5 million for Paramount Friday, adding to its Thursday opening numbers for a total domestic gross of $26 million. "The Croods" came in a distant second with $10.7 million, followed by "Tyler Perry's Temptation" at $9.4 million for Lionsgate (despite Kim Kardashian's wretched reviews for her role as a marriage counselor). "The Host," based on "Twilight's" Stephenie Meyer's sci-fi novel, opened in fourth place with $5.5 million, and "Olympus Has Fallen" fell to fifth with $4.8 million.
