Box Office: 'The Lorax' rules the weekend with nearly $71 million

lorax-march4-universal.jpgThe first weekend in March was all about "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax." The animated feature blew away the competition taking in a whopping $70.7 million.

Coming in second place was the much-hyped teen party flick "Project X." The  Todd Phillips-produced movie collected $20.8 million. Rounding out the top five were  "Act of Valor" ($13.7 million), "Safe House" ($7.2 million) and "Tyler Perry's Good Deeds" ($7 million).

Oscar winner "The Artist" made a return to the top 10 just a week after winning Best Picture. It brought in $3.9 million.
