Box Office: 'The Other Guys' takes top spot, 'Inception' still a box office dream

other-guys.jpgThough "The Other Guys" isn't approaching "Talledega Nights" numbers, its estimated $35.6 million opening puts it solidly in the territory of Will Ferrell's previous work like "Stepbrothers," "Blades of Glory," and "Anchorman." While reviews have been mixed, it looks to be another box office slam dunk for Ferrell - not to mention Mark Wahlberg, playing decidedly against type.

"Inception" continues to rake in big numbers, down only 32% from last week with another $18.6 million -- impressive, considering the fact that anyone who doesn't live under a rock knows the twist by now. It beat out "Step Up 3-D," which opened to an estimated $15.5 million, riding America's dance craze and taking advantage of the buzz generated by "So You Think You Can Dance's" finale week.

The Top 5 was rounded out by Angelina Jolie's "Salt," and "Dinner for Schmucks," which suffered a significant blow from last week, likely because movie goers seeking bro-comedy headed to "The Other Guys" instead.

The complete Top 12 is below, with weekend totals followed by overall totals.
