Brad Pitt on his marriage to Jennifer Aniston: it wasn't 'interesting'
Someone call the burn unit. Maybe Brad Pitt wasn't trying to cut so deep, but something about calling out your marriage for not being "interesting" feels like a real harsh zinger.
In Sunday's (Sept. 18) PARADE magazine, Pitt reminisces about his 5-year marriage to Jennifer Aniston; he doesn't necessarily look back with regrets, but instead with an apparent sense of boredom:
"...I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself...I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't."
Pitt goes on to praise current kinda-wife Angelina Jolie, saying "one of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mom."
It's hard to imagine Brad Pitt ever leading an uninteresting life, but we have no choice but to take him at his word. However, if being married to Jennifer Aniston is considering uninteresting, we shudder to think what the world would think of our robust life of Food Network and fantasy football.
UPDATED: After the "interesting" quote caught fire on the web, reps for Brad Pitt contacted E! news with a statement from the actor:
"It grieves me that this was interpreted this way. Jen is an incredibly giving, loving and hilarious woman who remains my friend. It is an important relationship I value greatly. The point I was trying to make is not that Jen was dull, but I was becoming dull to myself -- and that, I am responsible for."
