Brad Pitt is spilling the beans on his drug-addled past in the June/July issue of Esquire magazine. The "World War Z" star describes a darker time in his life, which overlapped his marriage to Jennifer Aniston.
"For a long time I thought I did too much damage -- drug damage," says Pitt. "I was a bit of a drifter. A guy who felt he grew up in something of a vacuum and wanted to see things, wanted to be inspired."
Brad says he squandered a lot of time and opportunities in his younger days. "I spent years f***ing off," he reveals. "But then I got burnt out and felt that I was wasting my opportunity. ... It was an epiphany. ... It was a feeling of, 'Get up.' Because otherwise, what's the point?"
The A-list actor says his life has changed for the better by having such a large brood with longtime live-in girlfriend, Angelina Jolie, whom he recent called "heroic" for her double mastectomy announcement.
"I always thought that if I wanted to do a family, I wanted to do it big," the father of six explains. "I wanted there to be chaos in the house. ... There's constant chatter in our house, whether it's giggling or screaming or crying or banging. I love it." Pitt also says he hates leaving the kids behind to stay in hotels, but cherishes getting a chance to read the newspaper.
