'Breaking Bad' finale shatters series-record ratings
AMC says 10.3 million viewers tuned in to the 75-minute finale on Sunday. The previous high for the show was 6.6 million for the previous week's episode, meaning the finale topped the prior record by a margin of more than 50 percent. Just the number of adults 18-49 tuning in, 6.7 million, beat the old record for the whole audience.
"Breaking Bad" also outdelivered everything on TV in its time period except for NBC's "Sunday Night Football" telecast.
"We're proud that AMC will forever be known as the birthplace and home of this iconic show and, at the same time, we tip our Heisenberg hat to the fans who made this a truly shared experience," AMC president Charlie Collier says.
Aftershow "Talking Bad" also scored its biggest audience ever with 4.4 million viewers, 2.9 million of whom fell in the 18-49 demographic.
