breaking-dawn-2-twist-battle-scene.jpg "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" amazed most audience members with a shocking "twist" -- which the vampire romance series author, Stephenie Meyer, didn't write herself.

If you filled one of the sold-out seats (it's already grossed more than $162 million), you know what happened. But if not ...

Warning: Spoilers follow ...

After newly immortal Bella ( Kristen Stewart) and Edward ( Robert Pattinson) enjoyed lots of married vampire sex, the movie's real climax came with an epic battle scene that never happened in the original "Breaking Dawn."

Turns out it never happened in the flick either. The violent clash between the Volturi and the Cullens (with their small army of loyal vampires and werewolves) was only a vision that clairvoyant Alice ( Ashley Greene) shared with Aro, warning him what would happen if the Volturi did not stand down and let Edward and Bella's daughter Renesmee live.

The terrors Alice communicated to Aro (played to campy, almost operatic perfection by Michael Sheen) culminated in the Volturi's defeat and his own death -- along with those of many beloved characters.

The first gasp-worthy moment came with the killing of Carlise ( Peter Facinelli), decapitated by Aro himself. Jasper Cullen ( Jackson Rathbone) was also lost, as was Seth, whose last whimpers as a werewolf offered the most poignant moment on the bloody battlefield.

But it was Team Cullen's slaying of Aro and his wicked comrades that persuaded the Volturi leader to back down and leave the Forks family and their defenders alone.

So were you one of those cheering in the audience when peace was restored (in the truest sense of the word) to that snowy clearing?
