'Breaking In': Christian Slater, Odette Annable and more talk Comic-Con episode
"Breaking In" is breaking in to Comic-Con tonight, May 4, on FOX. They'll also be breaking the hearts of "Goonies" fans everywhere as the gang is attempting to recover the first print of "Goonies 2" (Sadly, this is not a real movie). The culprit? A rogue Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, of course.
Zap2it was on the "Breaking In" set while they were filming the geektastic episode. Having been to the real thing, we've got to say, "Breaking In" did a pretty darn good job replicating the Con, stormtroopers, Ecto-1 and all.
Yes, you read that right. Ecto-1, the "Ghostbusters" vehicle was on display, something that excited Bret Harrison (whose character Cameron is dressed as a maintenance worker). "I'm surprised we have the 'Ghostbusters' car," he said, while itching his fake mustache. "They were talking about how weird it is, like the certain things that get cleared and the others that don't get cleared. It's crazy that we have 'Ghostbusters'!"
Was Harrison a little bummed he didn't get to dress up as movie or TV character, like his co-star Trevor Moore who goes undercover as a Na'vi from "Avatar," blue paint and all? "I'm doing pretty good. I just have to itch my upper lip every now and then. He's [Moore] been a little cold."
Thankfully, Moore was more than OK with dressing up -- or down -- for the big episode. "I was like, 'Alright, let's do it!' I had to wake up at 3 a.m. to get this done but it looks pretty good," he says while being touched up by a make-up artist.
Odette Annable, the gang's lone girl, lucked out and got to wear two costumes for the episode. When we chatted with her, she was wearing a peanut vendor uniform, but told us she dresses up as Xena later in the episode. Fan boys, prepare to drool.
But wait -- it gets better. Kind of. When we asked Annable, who has been to the real Comic-Con, who she would dress up as if she had the choice, she said, "I'd probably go as Wonder Woman. They were going to, but because of clearing issues they weren't able to." Not cool, Legal. Not cool.
One person not partaking in all the costume fun? Christian Slater. Contra Security's boss man Oz will be sitting this one out. "That was an idea we did have originally [Oz going to Comic-Con], but we don't want to give too much away now," Slater said. "There was a Darth Vader costume being thrown around."
He continued, "There will certainly be episodes that Oz participates a great deal in. When George Lucas asks us to test the security at Skywalker Ranch, see if we can get out of there with a star destroyer, I will be leading that charge. Oh yes, I will!"
