Bret Michaels in surgery to fix the hole in his heart
The rocker/reality show staple is currently undergoing surgery in Phoenix to close a hole in his heart that his doctors discovered last April when he was being treated for a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage.
According to E! News, Michaels will undergo a cardiac catheterization -- a procedure that involves inserting a catheter into a vein in the groin area and threading wires up to the heart in an attempt to close the hole. Without the procedure, Michaels could be prone to blood clots and stroke.
Prior to last year's brain hemorrhage, Michaels -- a lifelong diabetic -- also underwent an emergency appendectomy.
Life isn't all hospitals and meds for Michaels, though. He won last season's "Celebrity Apprentice," appeared on the "American Idol" finale and -- most recently -- was (falsely) rumored to have broken up the marriage of Miley Cyrus' parents, Billy Ray and Tish.
