'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy' announced for October release
Author Helen Fielding announced the name of the latest book in her popular series, "Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy," when she gave a sneak peek of the novel on "Today" on Tuesday (May 28). The first new rule for Bridget is "do not text when drunk," which is good advice for everyone.
Then Fielding offered an excerpt of the book:
You see, this is the trouble with the modern world. If it was the days of letter-writing, I would never even have started to find his address, a pen, a piece of paper, an envelope, a stamp, and gone outside at 11.30 p.m. to find a postbox. A text is gone at the brush of a fingertip, like a nuclear bomb or Exocet missile.
Comparing a drunk text to a nuclear bomb is ... not inaccurate sometimes.
The first two books, "Bridget Jones's Diary" and "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason," both became feature films starring Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth. A third movie was reportedly being worked on a couple years ago, but nothing official has been announced yet. The third novel is due out in October.
