'Bunheads' first look: Kelly Bishop in action as Sutton Foster's new mother in law

bunheads-kelly-bishop.jpgKelly Bishop played an intimidating matriarch on "Gilmore Girls" for seven years, which means she's slipped into her role on "GG" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino's new ABC Family series, "Bunheads," quite nicely.

Zap2it has the exclusive first look at Bishop in action as Fanny Flowers, the formidable mother-in-law of Sutton Foster's dancer character, Michelle. In this minute-long clip, Michelle's new husband ( Alan Ruck) brings her to the home they'll now share. While Michelle thinks Fanny's influence is everywhere because she's close to her son, once Fanny shows up, she realizes it's because that's where she lives too.

Whoops, that's something he might've mentioned before the wedding.

Of course, considering the show follows Michelle as she gets a job at Fanny's dance studio in her new hometown, a small village in coastal California, she'll be sticking around for a while.

"Bunheads" premieres June 11 at 9 p.m. on ABC Family.
