hunter-foster-sutton-foster-bunheads-gi.jpgThe "Bunheads" family is expanding as Hunter Foster, real-life brother of series star Sutton Foster, is set for a recurring guest role on the ABC Family dramedy.

Hunter Foster will, not surprisingly, play the brother of Sutton's character Michelle. The pair share a tight bond and Sutton tells Zap2it that Hunter's character, Scotty, has a lot in common with his sister.

"Scotty and Michelle are sort of the male and female version of each other," she says. "He's as much of a hot mess as Michelle is."

While "Bunheads" returns for the second half of its first season on Jan. 7, Scotty makes his debut several weeks later on Jan. 28. But the siblings have already started filming together, a first for the respected Broadway stars. (She won Tonys for revivals of "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and "Anything Goes," he was nominated for a revival of "Little Shop of Horrors.")

"It's been amazing. We've never really worked together," Sutton says of acting with her brother. "We're both actors but we've both had singular careers apart from each other. So this has been an awesome experience just personally and professionally. And [also] being able to explore more of Michelle's background and what that reveals."
