Burger King Twitter account hacked by a McDonald's fan?

Over 100,000 people woke up to something strange happening on Twitter, this morning. The official account of fast food chain Burger King resembled something else very familiar. Their user photo had been replaced with those iconic golden arches, and their name had been changed to "McDonald's."

If you were to visit the account, you'd be met with a profile that said the company had been sold to McDonald's, their arch rival, after "the whopper flopped." Don't worry Burger King fans, the company is just fine. However, it seems they've been the target of a hacker.

The hacker retweeted pro-McDonald's messages from followers, and also sent a bunch of profane tweets. Eventually their fun came to an end, as Twitter locked down the account, and pulled it from the site. There hasn't been much good news for the company this year. They've been in the middle of a controversy overseas, after admitting that some of their products in Ireland and the UK contained trace amounts of horse meat.
