Cameron Diaz joins 'Annie' remake as Miss Hannigan - report

Deadline reports that Cameron Diaz finished negotiations on Wednesday (June 26) to join the updated movie musical from producers Will Smith, Jay-Z and Jada Pinkett-Smith as the villainous orphanage matron.

She joins a cast that includes Oscar nominee Quevenzhane Wallis ("Beasts of the Southern Wild") as Annie and Oscar winner Jamie Foxx as Benjamin Stacks, the renamed Daddy Warbucks character for the Will Gluck-directed film, if the report is to be believed.

Diaz joins a long line of beloved actresses who've taken on the role in the history of "Annie" on film. Carol Burnett played Miss Hannigan in the 1982 film version, while Kathy Bates took on the role in the 1999 TV remake. Jane Lynch currently plays the part in the musical's Broadway revival, as well.

Do you think Diaz is a good choice to bring Miss Hannigan to life? Or are you bummed it isn't Bullock -- or anyone else?
