Can the season premieres live up to our expectations?
The new fall season kicks off September 1 with the second season premiere of Gossip Girl. On September 2 those of us still speaking to The CW will tune into the new 90210. And I'm thinking you all should send me your predictions right now. I'm drawing a line in the Peach Pit -- do you think the show will be a hit or a flop? You must chose (and no you can't chose "me"). I'll count your votes and let you know who thinks what right before the show premieres. My heart still says "hit" and I want to follow my heart but my gut thinks "flop" -- maybe even colossal flop. The kind that becomes legendary. The bad idea we still talk about years later (think Cop Rock). Email me and let me know what your fearless prediction about the fate of 90210 is.
On Wednesday September 3 we'll have the season premiere of Bones. FX is premiering its new series the Sons of Anarchy on September 3 and TNT has its new series Raising the Bar on September 1. Entourage is back September 7. Phew. That's just the first week in September. So get your rest now kids because September is going to be a busy month.
I'm making my way through the shows. I'll have more to say when our beloved series actually return but I didn't love the two-hour season premiere of Bones (which sends the dynamic duo to London and dismisses the big Zack reveal far too casually. I'll tell you right now, you're going to be annoyed) but I absolutely loved the first two episodes of House (which directly addresses Amber's death and the ramifications her death has on the entire team).
Both Bones and House didn't necessarily end their seasons on cliffhangers but did end their seasons with much to address when their new seasons began. So all of this got me thinking about what season premiere was the biggest letdown after waiting for months for a show to return. Not the season but the actual season premiere episode. In recent memory, the second season premiere of Prison Break immediately comes to mind. Right from the start, I thought, "yeah this isn't going to work." The backlash against Grey's Anatomy really took off with last season's premiere. That's when I realized the show really wasn't going to let the Gizzie romance go.
What season premieres of returning shows were the biggest letdown for you? Talk about it below.
