Candace Cameron Bure 'wanted to be Winnie Cooper' on 'The Wonder Years,' she cracks
Newly paired "Dancing With the Stars" couple Mark Ballas and Candace Cameron Bure were on "Hello Ross" Friday (March 14), and the grown-up DJ Tanner was just as adorable as you'd hope she would be.
When asked if she gets angry when people call her DJ, Bure says, "I don't get angry, no! People love the show, kids still watch it. And I have kids, so I embrace it, I think it's great."
Host Ross Matthews then busts out some pics of Bure as a young girl with a young Fred Savage, who starred on her "Dancing With the Stars" co-star Danica McKellar's show "The Wonder Years."
"Fred was my first crush and man, I wanted to be Winnie Cooper on that pilot episode of 'The Wonder Years,'" says Bure with a laugh. "I already had the part on 'Full House.' I'm like, 'Why did I get 'Full House,' I wanna be Winnie Cooper!' [ laughs] No, I'm very happy I was on 'Full House.'"
In talking about their first week together training for "Dancing With the Stars," Bure admits that she's "a little bruised up," but her partner says she's giving it her all.
"[Contemporary] is probably the most physical style to start with, but she's doing really well," says Ballas. "I think Candace is truly the essence of the show, she has zero dance experience but has natural rhythm."
To which Bure yells: "KEEP IN MIND WHEN YOU VOTE, I HAVE ZERO DANCE EXPERIENCE."
Hee. "Dancing With the Stars" premieres Monday (March 17) at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
