Carrie Fisher is back for 'Star Wars: Episode VII'
Is Carrie Fisher officially back as Princess Leia in "Star Wars: Episode VII"? The actress herself has confirmed her involvement in the upcoming movie.
When asked by Palm Beach Illustrated if she could "confirm whether you'll reprise the role of Princess Leia" in the upcoming "Star Wars" film, Fisher simply said, "Yes." It might not be an official Disney confirmation, but it will work for now.
When asked what she thinks Leia is like now, Fisher responded, "Elderly. She's in an intergalactic old folks' home [laughs]. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle."
Disney is said to be courting Fisher, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford to come back as the characters Leia, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo in the upcoming movie. Ford is also reportedly "open" to the idea, and Hamill has said that he's in discussions with Disney for the part.
J.J. Abrams is signed to direct "Star Wars: Episode VII." Screenwriter Michael Arndt is writing it, but thus far no plot details have been revealed. Disney has also confirmed that "Star Wars" spinoff movies are in the works. "Episode VII" is slated to hit theaters in 2015.
