Carrie Fisher set for 'Star Wars: Episode VII'? Not so fast
Carrie Fisher has had more than a year to think about appearing in "Star Wars: Episode VII," but her involvement -- if it's happening -- isn't a done deal yet. That hasn't stopped the media from hounding the erstwhile Princess Leia about whether or not she'll be in the new movie, though, and she's played along with the rumor mill.
When TMZ recently snagged a moment with Fisher while she was at LAX airport and asked her about whether she'd be in the new movie, she replied with a snappy, "Yes. Sure. Wouldn't you?" Then, when the 56-year-old actress was on "The Talk" earlier this week, she joked about what she thinks Leia has been up to since the events of "Star Wars: Episode VI -- The Return of the Jedi." Most recently, a fan from TheForce.net asked Fisher whether her involvement in "Star Wars: Episode VII" was confirmed, and she said, "I thought it was already common knowledge."
Unfortunately, it's not. E! News contacted Fisher's rep, who says, "She hasn't confirmed anything. Everything you've seen has been tongue-in-cheek." That seems like a pretty big bummer for everyone involved.
It has been reported that the plan for "Star Wars: Episode VII" is for the movie to take place a few decades after "Return of the Jedi" and feature older versions of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo, but that has not been publicly confirmed by Disney, Lucasfilm or anyone else involved in the project. Oscar-winning screenwriter Michael Arndt has been brought on to pen the "Star Wars: Episode VII" script, and the film is due out in 2015.
