Murray, who also appeared in "Gilmore Girls" and "Dawson's Creek," has signed on to star in ABC's remake of the 1980 television miniseries "Scruples," based on the novel by Judith Krantz.

Murray will play Spider Elliot, a photographer who becomes creative director of a luxury fashion boutique called Scruples. The role was originated by Barry Bostwick. The casting was first reported by Deadline.

The pilot stars "CSI: NY" star Claire Forlani as Billy Winthrop, the wealthy clothing designer who opens the store. Gary Cole was just tapped to play Billy's late husband's lawyer. Boris Kodjoe and  Jessica McNamee will round out the cast. Natalie Portman is one of the executive producers of the pilot .
