Channing Tatum as Evel Knievel? The actor's next daredevil move
Recently coming off the blockbuster films "Magic Mike", "The Vow", and "21 Jump Street", Tatum has found his next project in Evel Knievel. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tatum is close to signing on to star in and produce a film about the legendary daredevil.
Producers Mike DeLuca and Dana Brunetti, known for "The Social Network", have agreed to produce the film for Columbia Pictures. They also recently signed on to produce "Fifty Shades of Grey" for Universal Pictures.
The role continues Tatum's trend of undertaking more serious roles since his start in "Step Up." Knievel is well-known in popular culture as a man who tested limits and put his life on the line to undertake dangerous stunts. Knievel attempted more than 75 motorcycle jumps between 1965 and 1980 and was entered in the Guinness Book of World Records due to his record 433 broken bones. Known for his patriotic getup and his Kings Island jump, Knievel has had several films and books dedicated to him.
