Charisma Carpenter on her 'Supernatural' reunion with James Marsters

spn-buffy-reunion-1.jpgTonight's episode of "Supernatural" is a geeky dream, reuniting "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" co-stars Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters as dueling witches with an 800-year history. Carpenter's character, Maggie, has been wronged by her husband, Don -- and she's not about to let it go quietly.

"If you've seen 'Angel' and 'Buffy,' she's very Cordy un-like," Carpenter tells us. "She's a little bit of a petulant child. She wants her way, and she's a powerful, angry, jealous witch. All of that made me want to take the role. Those are the fun characters to play, you get to feel sexy."

On "Buffy," Carpenter and Marsters didn't work together much, so the chemistry between them in this "Supernatural" episode is a little taste of what could have been. "We knew each other really well just from being on set and standing by, but we didn't actually have a lot of screen time together," she says. "Still, it was so great to catch up and see him and spend time with him. We reminisced and talked about our families and updated each other."

She notes that she didn't take the role with the reunion in mind. "It was a surprise," she says, when she learned that Marsters would be her co-star. "A very happy surprise."

As for her favorite scene, Carpenter shares that one scene in particular, in which she and Marsters are in their living room with Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) was particularly fun to film. As you might imagine, the witches don't exactly make the conversation easy on the Winchesters. Carpenter says it was particularly fun when they got to the more physical part of the fight.

"They're big boys! They're very large, tall and they work out, so it's fun to throw around these big strong boys," she laughs. "And, you know, to see them take a fall is funny. It's a good time."

As for a return appearance (we're rooting for it!) Carpenter says that if the opportunity came up, she'd be into it. "They're on their seventh season," she says. "I don't know how long that window will be open!"
