Chaz Bono's 71-pound weight loss due to Qsymia and exercise
"He's smiling all the time -- he's energetic, happy and motivated," Dr. Eva Cwynar, Bono's endocrinologist and metabolic expert, tells In Touch. "This has been life-changing for him."
Bono was formerly 253 pounds, which was a lot on his 5'5" frame. But now he is down to a much healthier 182 pounds. So, how did he do it?
"I was looking to balance the hormones and what would be easy for him [to maintain]. That's why I suggested Qsymia. It's a drug, newly approved by the FDA for the chronic maintenance of obesity. It modifies his eating behavior in conjunction with exercise," says Cwynar.
Bono also previously cited his change in what he eats -- "I've just changed the way I eat. Diets don't work. You just have to change what you eat, and I have."
"He's off his cholesterol meds and his hypertension meds," Cwynar says proudly.
"I have a lot more confidence, and I really like what I see in the mirror," adds Bono.
