Chelsea Handler to host 'Late Show'? E! host in talks with CBS
With David Letterman's upcoming retirement, many are wondering who will take the late-night veteran's place as host of the "Late Show." With so many names being thrown around, one is actually already in talks with CBS. The Wrap reports that even before Letterman announced his retirement, Chelsea Handler was already in negotiations with the network for a late-night show.
CBS first contacted the E! host about hosting a syndicated show, but Handler wasn't interested in that. Then, the network was interested in giving her Craig Ferguson's 12:30 a.m. spot, but now with Letterman's departure, Handler wants "Late Show" hosting duties when she leaves E! after her contract expires at the end of the year.
According to the site, Handler will be meeting with CBS chairman and CEO Les Moonves to continue discussions in the next few weeks. If Handler does indeed get Letterman's slot, she will be the first female host since 1987, when Joan Rivers' short-lived show on FOX ended.
Would you want to see Handler or Colbert take over for Letterman, or someone else?
