'Chicago PD' gets help with 'Law & Order: SVU' crossover in 2014Add to Favorites | Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
"Chicago PD" executive producer Matt Olmstead tells TVGuide.com the crossover of both Dick Wolf-produced shows will happen when the New York cops visit Chicago "for a case that involves a serial rapist/killer, who the cops believe started his spree and moved on to Chicago."
The head of the Chicago intelligence unit brings in the "SVU" team, who "work very well with their Chicago counterparts," Olmstead confirms. Crossovers aren't uncommon in the "Law & Order" universe -- in the past, "SVU" detectives have visited the teams on the original "L&O" and the short-lived spinoff "Trial By Jury."
"Chicago PD," a spinoff of NBC's "Chicago Fire" (also produced by Dick Wolf), premieres Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, after "Law & Order: SVU."
