'Chopped' host Ted Allen engaged to marry longtime partner Barry Rice following SCOTUS ruling
"Chopped" host Ted Allen announced that he, too, will be planning his nuptials in celebration. The Food Network personality took to Twitter to share his news, writing, "Proud to announce on this historic day that my partner of 20 years, Barry Rice, and I are engaged to be married. :)"
Allen received several tweets of encouragement from fans and fellow food TV personalities. Duff Goldman ("Ace of Cakes") wrote, "Mazel Tov, @ChopTedAllen," while Mario Batali re-tweeted Allen's announcement, attaching a "Yay!" of his own to the good news.
Allen and Etheridge weren't the only celebrities celebrating the historic advancement in equal rights. Kristen Bell tweeted, ".@daxshepard1 will you marry me? Xo #marriageequality #loveislove," to her fiance Dax Shepard. (The two have famously said they wouldn't wed until their same-sex friends were afforded the same right in California.)
With Prop 8 also struck down by the Supreme Court, Shepard replied, "F*** Yes!!!!!!!" He also tweeted, "DOMA is dead. Prop 8 is dead. Now let's bring my big, gay marriage to @IMKristenBell to Life!!!"
Congrats to all the happy couples celebrating their engagements on this historic day.
