The comedian gave a reliably funny monologue at the Los Angeles ceremony, dropping zingers about everything from Jay Z and Solange's elevator fight to "Scandal," Beats By Dre headphones to Donald Sterling.

Here are some of the best jokes:

-An alternate title for the BET Awards: "The Black World Cup."

-Why the BET Awards are different from other entertainment award shows: "You're gonna see something you never see -- you're gonna see black artists getting credit for something they created.'

-Why "Scandal" is really a hit: "A lot of people think scandal is a hit because of Kerry [Washington], and she's great in it. But the real reason 'Scandal's' a hit is because every Thursday at 10:00 there's a white president. ... For one hour, it's back to normal."

-On the success of "The Butler": "If you make a civil rights movie and white people like it, it's not a good movie."

-On agreeing with Donald Sterling: "All he said was, 'I don't want my woman around black basketball players.' Me neither!"
